Exhibition: Innovative re-use, architectural renovation and circular building
Join us at the Impact Hub in the Dreispitz area for an exhibition and building tour on innovative re-use, architectural renovation and circular building.
When people think about green buildings, what typically comes to mind is designing new modern buildings that save energy. But is this right, or is this an outdated idea?
In our mini-exhibition, you’ll learn why the materials we use to build really matter, and that counting the emissions used to make your windows and walls can be far more important than how much heat or electricity you use. We’ll explain why it makes much more sense to renovate than build, and you’ll get a chance to tour our three-story office, including a café, co-working and meeting space, which was renovated by Basel architects bauburo in-situ with these principles in mind. We’ll also have a hands-on station with drawing materials where you can sketch and submit your ideas for future building (or rather, renovating) in Basel.
This is a self-guided exhibit and participants can come at any time during the session. A guided tour of the building will be held at 14:30 (in English and German, ca. 30min.), otherwise participants will be provided with a map of QR codes inside the building so that they can follow at their own pace.
Presented by the Furniture, Architecture & Built Environment (FABE) Circle, an initiative of the Impact Hub Basel and the Circular Economy Transition.
